Tara originally trained as a probation officer and came to Bristol to work in Easton in 1982 and never left!
Then a lecturer at Bristol University involved in training and education of social worker for 10 years before moving into research and evaluation and consultancy work. She served as a Non – Executive Director ( NED) – including as a Chair and Vice Chair, on a number of Health Boards in Bristol spanning 20 years. Tara was the Chair of Bristol Race Equality Health Partnership as a part of this role for over 10 years working with community groups and voluntary sector organisations to improve commissioning and delivery of health services for our diverse community. Also led the Patient Public Involvement Group for many years as a NED in planning and design of South Bristol Community Hospital in Hengrove. Nationally she has been involved in National Institute of Health Research ( NIHR) INVOLVE for 8 years in developing guidance, standards and good practice in patient , public involvement in health and social care research. Tara was a Vice Chair of Bristol’s voluntary sector infrastructure organisation VOSCUR for some years and looks forward to a trustee role again with BOPF from 2020 and working with a formidable team of trustees with a vast range of experiences and skills.
