How to get free or low cost food in Bristol
Food support
If you need immediate help with food, there are community groups and organisations that can help.
In the Feeding Bristol directory you will find information about groups and organisations providing free or low-cost food support across the city. Usually, these groups offer one or more of the following:
- a shared meal to eat together
- prepared or cooked meals to eat at home
- a food parcel with cupboard staples to prepare and cook at home
- low-cost fresh and chilled foods to prepare and cook at home
You do not need a referral to join a Food Club. This is a great way of helping supermarkets to not waste food. You’ll find information about food clubs in the Feeding Bristol directory too.
This guide tells you how you can get free or cheap food (Money Saving Expert). It includes savings on grocery and restaurant bills.
BOPF Cookbook
BOPF members have also created a free cookbook for older people ‘I Want to Cook’ that contains simple, cheap and healthy recipes. Find out more and download a free copy of the cookbook here.
