BOPF Nature Together Project
The BOPF Nature Together Project follows on from our BOPF Community Climate Action Plan. It is coordinated by the Bristol Climate & Nature Partnership and funded by the National Lotteries.
The Nature Together Project launched in the spring of 2026! BOPF is one of three Bristol community organisations that received funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund’s Nature Towns and Cities programme. It is a two-year project to address nature decline and get people closer to nature.
The project is led by a steering group, a core group of older adults. We have two project workers, Annali Grimes (Project Lead) and Lauren Hinks (Project Support) who will be working alongside our project advisory group to deliver the programme.
They are supported by Bristol City Council, the Climate and Nature Partnership and Avon Wildlife Trust. It builds on BOPF’s Community Climate Action Plan launched in June 2025.
The steering group members have identified the project’s priorities. We’ve also been out and about across Bristol, meeting local groups and organisations and learning from the work already happening in communities. Through our conversations with members, several key priorities have emerged.
There is a commitment to ensuring older people across the city are involved in the development of the project. It will focus on local, nature-based activities, intergenerational work, and building connections between older people across Bristol.
What are BOPF’s priorities for the Nature Together Project?
- Improving health and wellbeing
- Creating opportunities for social connection
- Supporting unity and understanding between communities
- Tackling barriers to accessing green spaces
- Signposting people to nature-based activities and projects
- Encouraging the sharing of knowledge between generations
- Supporting education and learning (e.g. ecology, climate change, local history)
In line with these priorities, BOPF organised two accessible walks in June in partnership with local wildlife experts. There are more projects in the pipeline, and we will be sharing updates soon.
