Lyn Porter

Lyn became a trustee of the Bristol Older Peoples Forum at the AGM in 2019.

Before Lyn retired she worked for the Bristol City Council managing the procedures around the funding of a wide range of charitable and voluntary organisations in the city. This was an eye opener into the huge range of charity/voluntary and third sector organisations providing services in Bristol.

When she retired in 2007 she became a trustee on the board of St Werburghs Community Association and for the last 5 years has been the Chair. She has now stepped down from that position but remains a Trustee.  She also took up a challenge and became a band manager, but with no previous involvement in the music industry it was a steep learning curve. It was great fun but what it required above all else was organisational skills. For eight years she travelled all over the UK and Europe to festivals with the band.

She is also a trustee of the Asian Arts Agency an Arts Council funded NPO organisation based here in Bristol but with a national and international remit. Its role is to develop, promote and support South Asian Arts across the UK and wider.
