Eileen Means

After attending the BOPF meetings for a few years, including joining the BOPF Housing Action Group. My background pre-retirement was in Social Services, Housing and Health across the former Avon County, with a specific interest in services for older and disabled people. Firstly, I was a Social Worker in Bristol South at the Broadwalk Office, then moved to Midsomer Norton. After that I became Area Manager of Bristol North. I lived in Knowle at the time. On the dissolution of Avon in 1996, I was appointed Director of Social Services in North Somerset, being given responsibility for Housing a year later. So, with a solid Local Government background, after retiring I stood as a councillor and was elected to Bristol City Council in 2015. Unfortunately, I later lost my seat and have stood for election since, but not been successful.
