Our work
Our Vision for the Next Four Years
Our core funding from Bristol City Council provides us with stability over the next four years. We can now continue to provide new and exciting services for older people.
Our work includes:
BOPF Open Forum Meetings
Our long standing BOPF Open Forum Meetings are open to our members, supporters and other organisations working for the benefit of older people. This is an opportunity to explore issues of concern with our guest speakers.
BOPF Meetup Mornings
Monthly BOPF Meetup Mornings, with guest speakers to discuss a range of topic.
BOPF Challenging Ageism Workshops
Our Challenging Ageism Workshops look at the effects of age discrimination, stereotyping and much more. They are aimed at our members, organisations providing services for older people and anyone else interested in exploring ageism.
BOPF Newsletter
We will also continue to publish regular on-line and paper copies of the popular BOPF Newsletter. We work closely with Bristol City Council and Age UK Bristol to provide regular news and information.
BOPF Advisory Group
The BOPF Advisory Group is an important new initiative. This sees us having a more formal role with Bristol City Council, advising on good practice around transport and other issues. It will also ensure that older people are centrally involved with the development of services. The framework for this is based on Bristol as a designated Age-Friendly City.
As part of this work we are currently developing an Older People’s Housing Plan and working closely with Bristol City Council’s City Office Department and the boards of the One-City Plan.
BOPF Digital Champions
A new project called the BOPF Digital Champions is now being developed to enable more older people to access online services like Zoom.
Platform60
BOPF Research
Life Under Lockdown – a two-year piece of research focussing on how older people are dealing with the challenges of Covid-19.
BOPF Carer’s Survey Report commissioned by BCC’s Adult and Social Care Team.
